The Super Bowl & Halftime Shows

February 2nd, 2009

Although the newly twenty-one-year-old Isaiah Greene was off in New York celebrating his birthday, S_P headed to a local watering hole to watch Paul’s Steelers defeat the Cardinals in what had to be one of the best two Super Bowl games of my lifetime.

I’m often disappointed by the Halftime Shows, but tonight was a pleasant surprise. I really liked Springsteen and the E Street Band. At age fifty-nine, this man was on top of pianos, bending backward, dropping to one knee, etc. One can always count on Bruce to give 100% at any performance.

As a result of that positive experience, I began reminiscing about my absolute favorite Halftime Show of all-time… Super Bowl XXVII… Rose Bowl… Cowboys versus the Bills… Michael Jackson put on the show of all shows:

Michael Jackson – Super Bowl Halftime Show

You have to understand that as a five-year-old boy watching this, I really thought there was some technology allowing MJ to be transported around the stadium and dance on top of the JumboTrons. As far as I was concerned, there was no trap door or anything. Mike just appeared out of thin air. I mean, at this point, I had already seen him (or what I now know was a stunt man) fly away after a concert using a jet pack. What was I supposed to think?

This man was so smooth that he told the producers, “I’ll be taking two of the twelve minutes to just stand and allow my fans to admire me.” AND IT WORKED! I feel like the only performance that can rival MJ’s is his younger sister’s titties titillating display at Super Bowl XXXVIII (see below).

Let’s end on that note—a good note…

Michael’s halftime show was literally the most insane show. I mean how you be transporting from jumbotron to stage. I was thinking the same shit. and that heal the world joint was insane.

    michael for president.

I never realized so much of the tittie was exposed. that is kinda a problem . Never knew michael performed at the superbowl. those effects are still legit.
